WHO WHAT & WHY ?


WHO? St. Thomas Aquinas College’s “New Hope” hard at work. This Fair trade class begins its semester by logging inventory and taking photos of products. WHAT? Fair Trade is a rapidly growing movement nationwide. Essentially, fair trade is constructed to help farmers in less economically developed countries. The Term Fair Trade means that producers receive a fair price for the good that they produce. WHY? Fair Trade not only helps protect workers’ rights, but it is also good for the environment. Many Fair Trade items are organic which can lead to reduced pollution, reduced soil erosion, conserve water and use less energy. Workers can also be ensured their safety because through this type of trade, a list of harmful chemicals are banned from production. YOU can make a difference today, just Fair Trade!
